• Math Tutor (Part-Time)

    We are committed to providing our customers with the best solution to their math learning needs.  Our expert approach is personal and prescriptive, with each child's individual needs in mind.  The learning center provides for success by finding the right starting point through diagnostic testing and building confidence and self-esteem through successful encounters and interaction with carefully selected materials.

    Math Tutor Role:

    • Teach through our methodology and terminology, using prescribed teaching practices.
    • Interact with and motivate students during the instruction session.
    • Evaluate and document student progress.
    • Communicate student needs to the center director.
    • Assist with community and special events.
    • Assist in non-teaching tasks, which may include cleaning, administrative assistance, curriculum preparation, or other duties as assigned.
    Math Tutor Characteristics:
    • Math Expert:  Tutors must be passionate about math and have strong skills through Algebra 1.  Must be willing to successfully complete training and learn and apply new pedagogy to teach the Mathnasium Method.
    • Engaging:  Must be able to interact well with students and be able to explain things clearly and concisely.  Should be able to inspire students to do well, establish a fun learning environment, and consistently demonstrate enthusiasm in teaching math.
    • Facilitator:  Must be able to move easily from one student to another and be able to keep track of multiple instructional lessons going on concurrently.
    • Professional:  Must interact with parents, students, and co-workers in a friendly, but professional manner.
    Math Tutor Qualifications:
    • High school sophomore or junior taking Pre-Calculus or higher (must be at least 15 years old), college freshman - junior, or adult.
    • Strong math skills and good mental math skills.
    • Able to score 85% or higher on the Math Literacy Test (skills through Algebra 1)
    • Able to work with students in kindergarten - high school.
    • Available two or more evenings (Monday - Thursday) and at least one Sunday evening a month (during school year). 
    • Must be able to pass a background check.
    Note:  We do not hire new summer only tutors; you must be available to work year round.
